Our Surprise "Plant"

A month or so ago, I was "weeding" our front flower beds, and underneath one of our crepe myrtles, I spotted a few mysterious looking leaves.  I gasped, and thought....could it be?  Oh yes! I believe it is!  Wow!  This mysterious looking plant just happened to look like a pumpkin vine.  I was not 100% sure, so I left it alone just hoping that we might have our very own VERY small pumpkin patch.  I didn't care where it was, I just thought it was too neat, and didn't want to touch it.

Evidently, one of the pumpkins that we carved last fall, lost one of it's seeds.  The seed must have found it's new home in the flower bed, and so, here we have it.  I hope it will produce a pumpkin or two.  If I would have planted the seed on purpose, it probably would have never come up.  You know how it is.  You try to grow something and it never grows.  However, this little accident may be one of the coolest little accidents we've had.  I will continue watching this thing in hopes that we'll have a few pumpkins by fall.

This vine has now grown to about 3 feet.

Cool! I hope it produces a pumpkin or two for you. I think I am ready for Fall and some cooler temps.
