Which one?

Okay everyone. We need your help. Erik and I haven't registered for a thermometer for our baby boy, because we have heard good and bad about all of them and just don't know which one to pick. So, if you will, leave a comment and tell us which one you prefer and why. Will it be temporal, rectal, ear, or another that we've just never heard of before? LOL! Don't know what we would do without you all.

my personal opinion....when they are little I always go with the rectal thermometer. It's just better over all. Trying to get a squirmy baby to "hold still" just never seems to work.

We had the ear one for Coco but have been using a rectal one for Sebastian. When we call the doc office, they always tell us that the most accurate temp is rectally. I was admittedly squeemish at first but now it's no big deal and I have the peace of mind of knowing that it's right on - no adding a degree or wondering if you stuck in his ear far enough. Just my opinion...

My personal preferance is cheap and accurate! You put your lips to your child's forhead and see if it's normal, slightly warm (99-101) moderately warm (101.5-102.8) or "burning up" (103-105.) Of course I tell you this jokingly, but trust me, you will be able to do this before long and will just confirm your own diagnosis with the thermometer :)

I also use a rectal thermometer. But keep in mind, our Dr told us to always subtract a degree on rectal temps. Adding or subtracting, you will always know when something is wrong! It's just a maternal thing!
