Whitney and I set out to hide the eggs. We didn't realize just how many eggs we had until we started walking back toward the house. There was color everywhere. The kids were cheating. I looked up and saw Mills standing in the back storm door waving at us as we came back. I smiled at him and shook my finger. Just joking, of course. Then, as I looked up once more, the back door opened. Mills tripped and fell forward down the brick steps. I screamed, threw down the basket and took off running. It was like slow motion. I couldn't get to him fast enough. I picked him up and there I saw it...blood. Yep! I cried and held him tight as he cried. The scratches and scrapes broke my heart, but in about a minute, my little rough and tough boy was darting toward the Easter Eggs. It could have been 1000 times worse than it really was. He's a tough one. That's for sure. I think it hurt me more to see his head and face all scratched up with blood than anything. Every time I look at him, it kills me, but he is fine. Mommy is not. When he falls, Erik and I are not quick to react, because we want Mills to know that he's a tough boy, but this was a different story. Running and falling is one thing. Tumbling down brick steps face first is another. Mommy reacted!
Here are two of the prettiest and most handsome babies you've ever seen hunting their eggs. Precious is all I can say about that!
The love of our lives was born on 8.13.09 and is the light of our lives. Mills is our happy, busy, typical little boy, who never slows down. He is a huge fan of Moose and Zee, Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse and loves playing with his "big-brother-dog," Joey. There is not a day that goes by that I don't look at this precious miracle given to us by God and sit in awe.
