It's that time of year again. The time for hearts and flowers. The time that Erik and I both chose to boycott for nearly 7 years of our marriage.
I know I have mentioned this before, but in case you missed it the first time, I will remind you that I worked at a florist from the time I was 16 years old until I graduated with my B.S. in dental hygiene. That's right! It will totally ruin Valentine's Day for you. I promise. I saw all of the crazy hullabaloo that everyone went to because they either wanted to make a big show, waste their money, and/or bought things because they felt as though they had to. So, for 9 years of my life, plus the first seven years of our marriage, I boycotted the holiday that I used to think was unnecessary, crazy, and should be wiped off of the calender. I want every day to be like Valentine's Day. Not just one day out of the year. I will even go so far to say that I absolutely
I love candy, flowers, hearts, and all of the things that go along with it, but you see, having a child will do that to you, but a husband that gets me flowers and cards during any random day of the year sends me in a lovey-dovey whirlwind. He does that. My wonderful husband does that! He is the best!
I won't go so far to say that I love Valentine's Day, but I will say that we do acknowledge it now and I do enjoy sharing little treats with my family. Getting all of Mills' valentines prepared for his friends is also a task that is handed to me every year, so it makes it all worth the while.
This year,
From our family to yours, we wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day!!!
The love of our lives was born on 8.13.09 and is the light of our lives. Mills is our happy, busy, typical little boy, who never slows down. He is a huge fan of Moose and Zee, Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse and loves playing with his "big-brother-dog," Joey. There is not a day that goes by that I don't look at this precious miracle given to us by God and sit in awe.
