Easter Eggs

I am going to try and make our annual egg dyeing a Good Friday tradition. We did it on Good Friday last year, as well.

I stated in last year's post that I am not a fan of plastic eggs. To me, they take all of the fun out of the good ole' egg tradition. I dyed eggs EVERY year as a child, and Mills will do so as well. He is still too young to understand that egg dyeing can be a bit tricky and that he has to be careful with the dyes. We had one casualty today, but hopefully the purple will come out of his khaki shorts....yikes!

After the eggs dried. We took Mills out for a test hunt. He did great! We're geared up for our first real hunt this weekend.

Because of His sacrifice, you and I, by God's grace are given the gift of eternal life, if we confess with our mouth, and believe in our hearts that Jesus is Lord!

Go Lucy Go 5K!

On Saturday, May 21st, 10:00 a.m., there will be a 5K Run/Walk benefiting ♥ LeBonheur at Covington High School. The 5K is in honor of sweet Lucy Krull. For more information and to register, go to www.golucygo5K.blogspot.com. It is sure to be a fun filled day. There will also be a kid's fun run. Get those shoes ready to Run/Walk!

I am no runner, but plan on getting my walking shoes and jogging stroller ready. Mills and I will be trekking it for LUCY! Go Lucy GOOOOOO!

Benefit Concert honoring Lucy!

On June 10th there will be a benefit concert for LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in honor of Lucy Krull. Come to worship and pray. There will also be a silent auction!!

When: Friday June 10, 2011 Time: Doors will open at 6:00 for silent auction viewing & bidding Concert will start at 7:00

There is not a charge for the concert. Donations are accepted. All proceeds will go to LeBonheur Children's Hospital.

Cupcake Smiles

Our little guy is still a very good eater. We are so glad that we don't have to fight with him to get him to eat. Now don't get me wrong. He is getting a little more "choosy" on what he likes and doesn't like, but so far, I think he is doing great.

This morning, being on our church's children's committee, I had to go to our annual Easter egg hunt. Mills is not "of age" for it yet (3-kindergarten), so E had the liberty of keeping him this morning. I am exhausted! I think I've done nothing this weekend but run from one place to the next, and right now, my body is telling me that I have done too much, but I have gotten a lot accomplished.

I brought home a little bit of extra fruit, and cupcakes left from last night's kid's movie night, and gave the fruit to him with his lunch at noon. He loves fruit and vegetables. As I was watching him eat his peas and carrots and strawberries with cantaloupe, I was thinking about how blessed we are to have a little boy that will eat healthy things. After his lunch, and because he ate well, I, the bad momma, gave him a cupcake right before nap time. I couldn't help it. He did not eat the whole thing, of course, but enjoyed what he did eat. He had eaten so well and I decided to reward him with a "happy." Boy, and was he happy!? I'll let you decide.

There is nothing sweeter than these little hands wrapped around a cupcake.

20 months

So, I'm a couple days behind on posting this, but hey, life is busy! In just four short months, Mills, we will be celebrating your 2nd birthday. Didn't we just bring you home from the hospital yesterday? Here is what you're up to, sweet boy!

• New words and phrases: boat, turtle, outside "side" (and you point to the door), ride, upstairs "stairs", "Joey, no!" "Awwww puppy," truck, Shhhhhh (and your put your finger to your mouth while tip-toeing), Jesus (Ceesus), More "moah", choo choo (when we see the train), pizza, "ketti" (spaghetti). "I did it!"...among a lot more things, but we can't always understand you.


• You are starting to learn to blow. You blow your food when its "hot!" or when its not (you observe your mommy very well), you try to blow bubbles, even though most of the time you end up touching the wand to your mouth first (yuck), and you even try blowing your nose.


• You are VERY strong-willed. Your daddy and I are trying to figure out just how to deal with it. Any advice from friends would be gladly appreciated. ha! You have a temper and can throw yourself in the floor and get mad with the best of them, and you go limp like a dish rag when I attempt to deter you from doing something that you shouldn't be doing, but your sweet side is the sweetest of all. When we tell you not to do something, you do it. Testing! Testing! 1-2-3. We could just squeeze you to pieces. Nothing melts mommy's heart more than when you hug me, pat my back and say "awwwww," followed by a kiss.


• Just a few weeks ago, you managed to put your pajama top on all by yourself. Wow! I know it sounds crazy to think that it is some sort of huge accomplishment, but to me, it is. Anything new is always an accomplishment to me.


• You are constantly moving. You go from one thing to the next and never stop. Every time I turn around, you are getting into something. I feel horrible because I feel like you are going to think that your name is, "NO!" I am hoping that this is just a 20 month old boy thing...or just a boy thing for that matter, and not a sign of over hyperactivity. Someone please reassure me!


• Sirens: you think they are cool! Every time we are out playing and an ambulance, police car, or fire truck passes, you smile really big, watch, and clap. That's a good thing. I would hate for you not to like fire trucks. Daddy wouldn't be too pleased either. You also say "whoo whoo" when you see a train.


• You have become a puzzle pro. Your daddy taught you how to match each piece to it's proper place. The wooden peg puzzles have been wonderful. You can now put each animal or piece or transportation etc. exactly where it goes. :) Just another new accomplishment that we are proud of.


• Clothes: You've moved on up to a 24m/2T in most things, although I am still getting 18m things in a few items. Shoes: two weeks ago I bought you your first pair of size 5 sandals, and a size 5.5 in your new tennis shoes. I thought your foot had stopped growing, but obviously not.

We've been cooped up. Even with nice weather, Mills' cough has been great during the day, but at night, he coughs. So, I have been reluctant to take him out in the wind. He is probably fine, but just to make sure, we've stayed indoors. We did go out for a while, but that was all.

The weather has been so beautiful. I am loving it, and it makes me wish that we had a gigantic playground in our yard. It makes me want to do fun things with him. So, I headed to walmart to get him some popsicles. Yep! Popsicles!!! Its hot out, and a little boy needs a popsicle every now and then. I also picked up his first set of clubs and more "baaboles" (bubbles) while I was there too. Five dollars....why not?

Just a Little Fun

So, my baby sister will graduate this May. I have a "decent" camera, but by NO MEANS am I a photographer, and ever intend on trying to be one. I know NOTHING about photography other than the small "class" I went to when I bought my camera. As a matter of fact, it wasn't really a photography class, it was a FREE with camera purchase "this is how you turn your camera on and off kind of class." I took notes, of course, but since then have not even cracked open the spiral bound notebook for any help at all, its because I'm lazy. I admit it. I love taking pictures, but would NEVER ever want to go in to photography. I just don't have the imagination, nor the eye for it. That's why I have paid for every single picture that Mills has had made, and will continue doing so. The only way I can keep Mills' memories alive, other than memories themselves, is by photography. It is not cheap, but you know what, it was worth every single dollar we paid, and I don't regret any of it. Like I said, I can never get those days back.

Back to my point...Morgan, will graduate this May, and wanted me to give it a shot at her senior pictures. I have to be honest with you. I have no idea why. My thoughts...you only graduate once and I am not the one you want taking your senior pictures! And you had better have a back up plan with Phil or Emily! Ha!

EARLY yesterday morning, we gave it a go. You should have seen me. I was like...what am I supposed to be doing. I had no idea how to tell her to sit, turn her head, eyes, or position any other part of her body for that matter. We ended up having fun more than anything, and laughed most of the time.

Morgan, I cannot believe you are about to walk across that stage and get your diploma. Don't wish your years away, because before you know it, the real world hits. Bills, bills, job, and did I mention...bills? ha! Congratulations sweetheart. Only a little over a month left! These are just a small snippet of what I took of her yesterday...

Just Because...

This is Mills' Uncle Drew. These were taken last weekend at a birthday party that we attended for our good friend's daughter's 1st celebration. I just thought that they were too cute not to share. No post, just memories :)

I'm Still Here

I don't know where last week went. The weekend went even faster. I just realized that I haven't posted in days. That is not like me at all.

Friday, we made a very quick trip to Memphis. Three pairs of shoes and a few "every day" outfits later, we flew back home and took dinner to the Krulls. Saturday was filled with a birthday party and shower, and yesterday was church. Afterwards, I went to pick up Mills from his overnight stay at Papa B and Gram's.

Mills took a trip to the weekend clinic last Sunday for a slight ear infection, but had a great week regardless...until yesterday. Apparently the antibiotic he was put on hasn't done a thing, so it was off to the doctor again today. Fever and a nasty cough set in yesterday, so its time for round two. Poor fella. You know he isn't feeling well when all he wants to do is sit in your lap. Normally, I can't keep up with him. Times like this make me thankful that Erik is able to help me get him to the pediatrician. That is one of the perks of being married to a firefighter. Luckily, in times like this, he has been off and is ready and willing to with him so that mommy can work. So, today after Dr. visit #2, we have established that it is a sinus infection. He has had no fever for 24 hours, the cough is nearly gone, and he is bouncing off the walls again. We started the new antibiotic tonight, just in case, and this one should clear him up. He is also gnawing on his fingers again as if his gums hurt. So, I am wondering if he is starting a very early eruption of his 2 year molars? Maybe? Who knows??
