Bedtime Bible Stories

Last night's bedtime Bible stories for Mills were none other than Jonah and the whale, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo.
After I read to Mills, I try to "discuss" each story with him.  Last night after our fiery furnace story.  I asked Mills why the king threw the three men into the fire.  He just looked at me, and of course I told him that they were thrown in because they worshiped God, instead of the king.  "They didn't burn up though, did they, Mills?" "Noooooo," he said.  Then I asked him who saved them from the fire.  His reply: "Daddy! firetrucks!"  Hmmmmmm  Well at least he knows what his daddy does for a living, right?

Funny Boy

You never know what they're going to say next.  This morning, I looked up and Mills had Erik's boots and belt on.  He said, "Bye!  I'm going to work."

FBC Coed II Boyette's Road Trip

We just returned from a road trip to Reelfoot Lake and Boyette's with our Sunday school class.  As usual we stuffed ourselves miserably with catfish, white beans, french fries, and some incredibly awesome onion rings

Before dinner, we made a quick stop to see the eagles and then walked the pier out to the lake. It was so cold!

The fellowship shared tonight was awesome!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We hope you have a day full of LOVE and laughter!

This year, thanks to Pinterest, Mills' Valentines for his friend's at Mimi's were super easy and so much fun!  Now, trying to get a two and a half year old to stand still with his fist out and smile at the same time, was a task, but he was a trooper.  Mission accomplished.  Mills, you're the cutest Valentine of all!

The camera is ready.  Mills is ready, and SNAP!  Simple 4 x 6 picture developed in an hour, while mommy shopped for suckers.

Picnik, I am so going to miss you!  Easy as uploading and adding text!

Sweet treats for Mimi's babies!

Me: Mills, what are you drawing?
Mills: an airport!
E: Well, it's a busy one!

Airport Birthday Party

Mills was lucky enough to be invited, once again, to an awesome birthday celebration.  His friends, Sam Harris and Faith, will soon be celebrating their 4th birthday.
The party was held at the Covington airport. Their dad is a pilot.  How appropriate!   I have been looking forward to the party since we got the invitation and just knew that Mills would have a great time.  He loves helicopters and airplanes.  So, today, he was able to see an airplane up close.

Sara had a coloring activity for the kids.  Mills is coloring his page and giving a few puzzles a try.

Pizza!

Mills and Sebastian waiting their turn for the party game.

Pin the pilot on the plane!  How fun!

and then it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" to the twins

The kids got to see a real plane!

Mills and Mary Claire getting ready to take off!....well, not really, but we'll pretend that's what they are doing. ;)

Capt. Mary Claire.  Cleared for take off!  Now, this pilot is serious about her job!  Hey!  Mary Claire, fly me to Hawaii!

To Potty, or Not to Potty....

Still, we have had no luck with potty training.  Although, we have been encouraged by others not to force the matter, so, that is what we have avoided.  Mills will be two and a half in two weeks, and I know that most mothers of boys have told us that their little darlings didn't train until they were almost three.  So, with that being said, we have been patient with it.

Mills knows what the potty is, and tells us when he has gone, but if you ask him, "Do you want to go tee-tee in the potty?", he says, "No!"  Yes, he has done it before.  He has even been rewarded for it, but honestly, the child doesn't care a thing about the potty.  We have been strongly advised to stay away from "pull-up" training pants by so many, and have been encouraged to let him wear big boy underwear so that he can feel how uncomfortable it is to "go" in them.  Guess what.  He didn't care.  Of course that was a few months ago.

Our next strategy is to maybe motivate him with books. I have searched for books on the web, and who knew that there were only about a million of them. Have any of you bought potty motivating books? If so, which were favorites. Maybe if we start reading now, he will be more motivated to try this summer. Here's hoping!

Now, this one looks interesting.  Mills loves anything with a fireman.

I do not particularly care for the word "pee" especially for a two year old, but Mo Willems is a house favorite. Maybe I can change the wording to "tee tee." ha!  It even has a chart and stickers.

Kid Bounce Birthday!

Wow!  I am ashamed that I haven't posted all month long.  Can we say, "busy!"

Mills attended a birthday party today for friend/cousin Kayson at Kid Bounce.  Our square now has it's very own inflatable "play land."  Today, we FINALLY got to try it out.  Kayson's Elmo themed  3rd birthday party was a hit!  We will definitely be back!

Mills, Kayson, and Cheyenne enjoying the balls!

And here he comes through the tunnel...

Big Bird and the birthday boy stopping for a quick picture.  Mills and Cheyenne are wondering..."What in the world?" ha!

Happy New Year!

We rang in the New Year with friends last night, and had an awesome time.  As I type this very moment, my boys are STILL in the bed, and I am not about to wake them.  Mills hung in there really well, as he had playmates to keep him busy the whole time.  As soon as we arrived home last night, he crashed.  He was more than happy to see his bed.
Fron our family to yours, we wish you a very happy 2012!
