To Potty, or Not to Potty....

Still, we have had no luck with potty training.  Although, we have been encouraged by others not to force the matter, so, that is what we have avoided.  Mills will be two and a half in two weeks, and I know that most mothers of boys have told us that their little darlings didn't train until they were almost three.  So, with that being said, we have been patient with it.

Mills knows what the potty is, and tells us when he has gone, but if you ask him, "Do you want to go tee-tee in the potty?", he says, "No!"  Yes, he has done it before.  He has even been rewarded for it, but honestly, the child doesn't care a thing about the potty.  We have been strongly advised to stay away from "pull-up" training pants by so many, and have been encouraged to let him wear big boy underwear so that he can feel how uncomfortable it is to "go" in them.  Guess what.  He didn't care.  Of course that was a few months ago.

Our next strategy is to maybe motivate him with books. I have searched for books on the web, and who knew that there were only about a million of them. Have any of you bought potty motivating books? If so, which were favorites. Maybe if we start reading now, he will be more motivated to try this summer. Here's hoping!

Now, this one looks interesting.  Mills loves anything with a fireman.

I do not particularly care for the word "pee" especially for a two year old, but Mo Willems is a house favorite. Maybe I can change the wording to "tee tee." ha!  It even has a chart and stickers.

Kid Bounce Birthday!

Wow!  I am ashamed that I haven't posted all month long.  Can we say, "busy!"

Mills attended a birthday party today for friend/cousin Kayson at Kid Bounce.  Our square now has it's very own inflatable "play land."  Today, we FINALLY got to try it out.  Kayson's Elmo themed  3rd birthday party was a hit!  We will definitely be back!

Mills, Kayson, and Cheyenne enjoying the balls!

And here he comes through the tunnel...

Big Bird and the birthday boy stopping for a quick picture.  Mills and Cheyenne are wondering..."What in the world?" ha!

Happy New Year!

We rang in the New Year with friends last night, and had an awesome time.  As I type this very moment, my boys are STILL in the bed, and I am not about to wake them.  Mills hung in there really well, as he had playmates to keep him busy the whole time.  As soon as we arrived home last night, he crashed.  He was more than happy to see his bed.
Fron our family to yours, we wish you a very happy 2012!

Beasley Christmas Dinner

Last, but not least, the Beasleys went back to Mama B and Daddy B's for a more casual and intimate Christmas Dinner.  We once again stuffed ourselves before showering Mama B and Daddy B with gifts.  It is tradition in the family to have a Christmas wrapping paper ball fight after all the gifts are over with.  Actually, we just usually throw them at Mama and Daddy B, but this year, Mimi June and Dee started a war on each other just before everyone else got involved.  Highlight:  Aunt June nailing Aunt Ginger right between the eyes.  Oh yes!  She couldn't have done it again if she had tried.  It was a ball!
Every morning Mills eats breakfast on "Papa Sammy's" lap.  That night was no different.

Trying on Tommy's hat

Aunt June got the kids the cutest hats!  Lainey a lady bug, and Mills a sock monkey.

Christmas Day Lunch

We headed out to my Uncle Byron and Aunt Judy's for Christmas lunch with my family immediately after church was over.  The boys played and everyone opened gifts after we finished eating.

Christmas Breakfast at Papa B and Gram's

Before church, we headed out to Papa B and Gram's for breakfast. Mills enjoyed his first taste of muscadine jelly and kept asking for more. He could have cared less about the biscuits and preferred to eat the jelly off of them with a spoon.
After breakfast, we exchanged gifts.

Rock star Mickey with wireless microphone!

Mills also got a pair of Carhart overalls and a camo carhart shirt and pants set.  He is ready to go venturing with his daddy!

Santa!

Christmas morning was awesome.  I don't know who was more excited.  Erik and me, or Mills.  E had to work again this Christmas, and he gets up very early.  We woke Mills up before he left, so that he could see what Santa had left under the tree.  I was ready, with camera in hand.

As Mills and Daddy come down the stairs, Mills says, "Wow!" as he points to his loot.  It was so amazing.  "Santa!" he said.

Mills got a tractor, Rumblin' Chuck, a helicopter, a Curious George game, a few Dr. Seuss books, a Woody's Roundup wooden guitar, a smoking shotgun, Smokey pillow pet, remote control Buzz Lighyear, Sheriff Woody, a Leap Frog Tag Jr, Brown Bear backpack, Star Wars light-saber, a tricycle and a tool work bench......whew!

Mills Family Christmas at Mama B and Daddy B's

Every Christmas Eve, the Mills family gathers at Erik's grandparents.  We eat finger foods and enjoy time together, as this is the only time of the year that we get to see most of them.

Mills and "Ta'-ee" (Tommy).  Tommy is Mills' buddy.  That's for sure!

Mills and his cousin Leah.  They are 5 months apart.
