Busy Busy Weekend

This weekend, our days were spent running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but it was a great weekend nonetheless.

My weekend starts on Thursday, and so after work, Erik and I worked quickly to get the house clean and clothes washed so that the rest of the day would be spent enjoying the nice weather. We picked our Mills up from Mimi June's and gave our jogging stroller a test drive around town, while stopping at Mama & Daddy B's house during our stroll. I'm trying to work off as much as this left over baby belly that I can before our beach trip in June.

Friday, our Mills went for his 2nd round of flu shots. Our big boy didn't even cry. I was so glad, because I took him by myself, which is something that I don't like doing. So, it was a BIG relief. Just for curiosity, I had them weigh him. Our big guy weighed 17lbs. 14oz. and is growing like a little weed. Just for starters, his cute little monogrammed shoes, and his brown Jemos shoes that fit him last week, would not even squeeze on his feet today. I was VERY shocked that his feet could grow so fast. Our poor guy went to church with no shoes on his feet, and so this embarrassing event will be followed by a trip to the "frog" this week for more shoes.

After the doctor, we headed to find him some new socks at the baby gap. These new little socks rock! Lets just say they fit like a glove and he hasn't been able to pull them off as easy, but oh does he try! We returned home around 1:00, and after a quick nap, Mills and I headed up to the freckled frog for some baby banz, and then went for an hour and a half stroll around town, stopping to visit with Mama B again. Actually, she was out working in her flower beds, so we took it upon ourselves to interrupt her hard work....I'm sure she didn't mind ;) After all, I was sweating like a pig, and needed to stop for a minute anyways. We were both worn out. I put our baby boy down at 7:45, and he slept until 7:38 am on Saturday.

Saturday was WILD. Mills had Easter pics at 10:00. I had a baby shower at 10:30, and then headed to our dear friends, The Sullivan's, to help a few friends pack up their home, before their movers arrive on Monday. You see, they just adopted the cutest little one from Ethiopia, and he has been very sick in LeBonheur, and they are still there. Connor is doing much better, and I am so thankful. I have prayed and prayed and prayed for this little one. He is such a beauty! They will be moving to Brentwood, and will be MISSED A TON. I was really looking forward to Mills and Connor getting to know each other, but it looks like we'll have an excuse to travel to Nashville ;) Then, we later headed to a birthday party for our little buddy, Jack at 3...such fun! Jack just turned 2. Mills had his first small taste of ice cream, and I gave him a tiny bit of icing from my piece of cake. He loved the ice cream! Our night ended with dinner at Erwin's, and then off to bed we went.

This morning, I woke up groggy and so unmotivated that I could have slept until...now. But, I managed to get Mills bathed, dressed, and loaded in the car by 9:35, just 10 minutes before Sunday school. We made it there in the pouring rain just in time. Okay, taking a baby to church by myself in the pouring rain was complete craziness. I looked like a drowned rat! Oh, but here's why. Pull up to park, jump in the backseat to cover Mills with a blanket, get out grab his stuff, and haul across the street and up the stairs, wet and out of breath...but oh, wait, I left his diaper bag in the car. So, I turned around, with my purse, ran back to the car, (it was raining harder by then and DON'T DARE ask me where my umbrella was, because 1. I don't know, and 2. There is no way you can carry all of that AND have an umbrella in your hand), opened the door grabbed his diaper bag, locked the door, and ran BACK across the street, up the stairs and back to the nursery to deliver his bag...oh, but wait...this time, I left my purse WITH MY BIBLE AND SUNDAY SCHOOL BOOK, in the car. Where is my brain? I left it at Methodist Germantown on August 13, 2009...oh yes I did!

Tonight, I took Mills to his first Children's Musical at HGCP church to see "Donkey Tales." He did soooo great, and only let out one little shreek of excitement during the whole play. He was so intrigued by the kids. I can't wait until he can participate in our church's children's choir one day...such fun!

Now, all is calm and quiet in the Beasley home. Mills is O-U-T, and I have just heard that the Healthcare Reform Bill was passed and I fell a little "sick to my stomach." If there is anything good about this, please tell me now so that I can stop worrying. I am in fear of a a socialist country and our corrupt leaders are taking it all the way! I am now headed to bed to pray and then will hopefully have a good night's sleep before I start all over again tomorrow.
