St. Patrick

This morning, while on my way to work, I learned some interesting, unknown facts about St. Patrick's Day...or St. Patrick if you will, that I never knew. How I could not know these facts is beyond me, but as I was listening to K-LOVE, I learned that I did not know that St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was a Christian missionary, and that his father was a Christian deacon. It is said that St. Patrick used a shamrock to explain the Trinity to other Irishmen in order to covert them from their pagan beliefs. It is also said that this prayer was transcribed upon his breast plate and discovered at his death on March 17, around 460 A.D.

I guess I've just never known the reason St. Patty's day is celebrated, and this snip of history was very enlightening.
