Just Because...
This is Mills' Uncle Drew. These were taken last weekend at a birthday party that we attended for our good friend's daughter's 1st celebration. I just thought that they were too cute not to share. No post, just memories :)

I'm Still Here
I don't know where last week went. The weekend went even faster. I just realized that I haven't posted in days. That is not like me at all.
Friday, we made a very quick trip to Memphis. Three pairs of shoes and a few "every day" outfits later, we flew back home and took dinner to the Krulls. Saturday was filled with a birthday party and shower, and yesterday was church. Afterwards, I went to pick up Mills from his overnight stay at Papa B and Gram's.
Mills took a trip to the weekend clinic last Sunday for a slight ear infection, but had a great week regardless...until yesterday. Apparently the antibiotic he was put on hasn't done a thing, so it was off to the doctor again today. Fever and a nasty cough set in yesterday, so its time for round two. Poor fella. You know he isn't feeling well when all he wants to do is sit in your lap. Normally, I can't keep up with him. Times like this make me thankful that Erik is able to help me get him to the pediatrician. That is one of the perks of being married to a firefighter. Luckily, in times like this, he has been off and is ready and willing to with him so that mommy can work. So, today after Dr. visit #2, we have established that it is a sinus infection. He has had no fever for 24 hours, the cough is nearly gone, and he is bouncing off the walls again. We started the new antibiotic tonight, just in case, and this one should clear him up. He is also gnawing on his fingers again as if his gums hurt. So, I am wondering if he is starting a very early eruption of his 2 year molars? Maybe? Who knows??

Sunday Funday
The weather has been beautiful. Almost "hot" out. Spring has only begun, and we are taking every opportunity to be outside. Sunday afternoon, Erik enjoyed an afternoon of golf with his dad, while Mills took his daily afternoon nap. After he woke up, we headed straight for a snack and then headed outdoors to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. He is really getting the hang of his four wheeler, although he doesn't know how to steer it or stop pushing the button when he runs into something. We pulled out all of his riding toys and bubbles and played all afternoon, just before going for a ride with daddy on the golf cart. Here he is...
Riding his four wheeler...
Enjoying his shades...
Feeding Joey a stick?!....yeah, okay...
Running through our flower beds...
Getting mad because I told him that he couldn't climb up the stairs onto the porch...

Don't Forget!
Tomorrow, there will be a "Team Lucy" bake sale in honor of Lucy on the Court Square lawn from 10:00-2:00. Come and shop, shop, SHOP!!! I've heard that there are going to be a lot of yummy treats for sale. Also, there will be Team Lucy shirts, bracelets, etc. for sale.
We've been busy this morning making our goodies. Mills whipped up a few batches of peanut butter brownie bars. Erik told me a few months ago, that I needed to introduce him to the kitchen. So, here he is doing his thing. He was more interested in licking the spatula. I know I probably shouldn't have let him eat brownie batter, but I always did it and it didn't kill me. Needless to say, he got a bath afterwards.

I Love This Day

Today, March 16, 2011, is a very special day. Nine years ago today, I was on cloud nine. I had not one worry in the world, and could not WAIT until 6:30 PM
I was dressed in white, topped with a veil, and having the time of my life with my girlfriends as we waited in a Sunday school room at my church. I could hear the music and my stomach fluttered, while at the same time, I didn't care about music, people, flowers, candles, or anything else for that matter. I just
could not wait to get to the end of that aisle and see my Erik. It was one of the most special days of my life, and to this very day, it still is.
I knew/know that Erik is the man that God hand-picked just for me. I knew at that very moment that he would take care of me, love me, and be my best friend until death do us part. After marrying my E, and having our precious Mills, I have
realized that nothing in this world matters. As we grow older, priorities change, and life happens. As I look around at this world, our temporary home, nothing matters to me but God and family. No matter what kind of house I live in, car I drive, profession I have, trip I take, or earthly possession can ever matter, because I have my God, I have my husband and son, and family and friends that are with me to the end. If this house were to immediately disappear, my car was to be stolen, if I lost my job, or all of my possessions were to be taken away, you know what...who cares? As long as I have my family and my awesome God, I don't need anything! That is all that matters to me. I want to live a simple, humble life, and pray for that every day. I want to make my husband and child happy, provide for them, and make sure that we live. That's it, LIVE happily. I wants needs to be taken care of instead of wants. I want to be a servant to God and set an example, and most of all provide.

On this anniversary, I am reminded of how so very blessed I am. I don't deserve any thing that I have been given, but my Gracious GOD loves me, and has blessed me so much. Every day, I try to remind myself of the good in life and not the bad. I shouldn't complain about anything, and should be grateful for my blessings.
Erik is the love of my life. Thank you Dear God for giving me this wonderful man. He deserves so much more credit than I could ever imagine giving him. He is a wonderful husband, helper, partner, father, protector, and most of all, he loves me. I am the luckiest girl. Mills, he is the luckiest little boy to have such an awesome daddy that loves him so much.
Happy Anniversary Erik!
Let us remember....

19 months
It seems as if I just wrote a post on Mills being 18 months. Here we go again! We're at 19 months and time deserves a speeding ticket! When I look at him, a little voice inside my head says, "He's not a baby anymore. He's a little boy." I don't like it, but I am taking in all that I can.
Mills, here is what you're up to at 19 months:
- You love Curious George....books, TV, your plush "Geor" (George)...you love it all. You like to do the "Shake-a-rama" dance on Nick Jr. You can "shake your hands up high high high, shake'em way down low low low."
- Just yesterday, you FINALLY rode your 4-wheeler all by yourself. Since Christmas, you have not been so sure about it and were afraid to get on and push the button to make it go. Yesterday, I took you outside and your drove it all the way around the cove and got upset with me when I made you get off to go inside for dinner. Another new favorite is your busy ball popper. Santa brought it to you for your first Christmas and you have been terrified of it. Now, you LOVE it. I am so glad.
- Books: you love all books and are getting better about sitting still in my lap when I read to you.
- You have discovered the art of screaming. For no reason, you just have this "shrill" scream. You scream, then laugh. Mommy doesn't really think its funny, but hey..
- Teeth: at this point, you have 10, but are cutting 6...at ONCE. We've been waiting on your upper laterals for months, and just when they start erupting, so are your cuspids....greeeeaaat. I'm just glad that they are on the way. Only 4 more to go! :)
- You are getting to be a little pro at washing your hands. Mommy still helps you, but you sure can scrub up good with your Kandoo soap. I think you just like sticking your hands under the water. That's a good thing.
- A funny: your Aunt Judy and Uncle Byron bought you a roll up cloth barn that has 3 small horses in it. It is GREAT for quiet play!!! You like to take your horses out and bounce them across the table while making a high-pitched "whinny" sound. It is too precious. You have also started saying, "Wheeeeeeeeeee!" every time I turn on to one street from another. It's as if mommy's car is a roller coaster?!
- Every day, you "test" us in some form or fashion. I know it is just part of your learning process, but we don't like having to get on to you. The fact that you will be two in just 5 short months is getting me a little worried. Hopefully those "terrible twos" won't be so bad.
- Food: you still eat just about anything you can get your hands on, although, you are discovering the differences in taste. The one thing that I have found you are not just "wild" about are scrambled eggs, but every now and then you will eat them.
What do you do when its rainy out? You ride your four-wheeler inside! Sometimes you've got to do, what you've got to do!

Bow Shopping
We went by Hometown Flowers on Saturday to pick up a "Lucy bow" for my sister. Ms. Kathy is taking pictures of all of the children that come in to get a bow. Mills would not hold the bow, of course, but I thought this picture was too precious not to share.

My Glory and the Lifter of My Head
As I walked out of church this morning, I stared at what appeared to be 100s of pink and purple bows surrounding our church. My face was flushed, my make-up...well, lets just say that it was gone, so to speak.
The service this morning was none other than perfect. As God led Bro. Chuck to speak to us about overcoming fear, our congregation at FBC stood as one this morning. One in God, one in the Holy Spirit. We sang "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name," Lord, I Lift Your Name on High," "At the Cross," and then sang of his "Amazing Love."
I am part of our church choir. This morning, our offertory message in music was none other than "Thou, O Lord," which led the whole congregation to their feet. The Holy Spirit moved and it was the most awesome experience and feeling. We were all there to honor God, to stand for God, and with all of our hearts, were holding on to Jesus as he wrapped his arms around us, and around Lucy and her family. Hearts were touched this morning, and the words of Ms. Nancy over a brief conversation at lunch today could not have described it more. "It felt as if there was going to be a rapture," she said. She couldn't have described it more perfectly.

Many are they increased that troubled me
Many are they that rise up against me
Many there be which say of my soul
There is no help for him in God
But thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Thou, oh Lord are shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Repeat
I cried unto the Lord with my voice
And he heard me out of His holy hill
I laid me down and slept and awaked
For the Lord sustained, for He sustained me
Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Thou, oh Lord are shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, and help you, I will uphold you with My righteous hand." -Isaiah 41:10

Bedtime Prayers
There's nothing sweeter and more precious to me than laying Mills down in his crib, and watching him clasp his hands for prayer....Now, I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
May angels watch me through the night
And keep me in their blessed sight
God bless mommy, daddy, family, and friends,
and thank you Dear Jesus for dying for my sins
Dear Jesus, lay your healing hand upon Lucy make her all better.
**and Mills says..."Amen"... followed by: "Go ooty (Lucy) Gooooo!"
It did my heart good! I couldn't help but giggle and smile. He is catching on very quickly, and we all know how he loves the word "GO!" I am so glad that he is cheering for "Ooty" too!

The love of our lives was born on 8.13.09 and is the light of our lives. Mills is our happy, busy, typical little boy, who never slows down. He is a huge fan of Moose and Zee, Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse and loves playing with his "big-brother-dog," Joey. There is not a day that goes by that I don't look at this precious miracle given to us by God and sit in awe.
