Baby's First Valentine

Today, Baby Beasley received his/her first Valentine from Nana (my Mom). How exciting! I'm sure he or she will love it. Baby Beasley recieved its first froggy from none other than the freckled frog and the best part is...it smells like the freckled frog. Noodle and Boo Kendra? Correct me if I'm wrong. Its wonderful. I can't wait to get some of that too!
But Nana, I must tell you. Joey thought that the froggy was his and tried to take it from me, so of course I had to let him know otherwise.

Flashback

Today in honor of "V-day" (I call it that because Erik and I don't participate, 9 years at a florist will do it for ya!) Oxygen channel was playing the 1987 Comedy "Can't Buy Me Love" starring Amanda Petersen and Patrick Dempsey. I hadn't seen the movie in years. It acutally made me laugh to see it on the channel guide, because everytime I see Grey's Anatomy, I can't help but think of Ronald, Patrick Dempsey's character in Can't Buy Me Love. Every one is always talking about "Dr. McDreamy" and how, whats the word all of you use..."hot?" he is. Not that his looks haven't dramatically improved over the years, because I will agree with you all, they have. But...on the other hand all I can remember when I see him is this geeky guy at a highschool dance doing this goofy dance with his hands in the air and shaking them back and forth. Oh, It was called the "African Anteater Ritual." Sorry, it just doesn't do a thing for me. LOL! We have all had our ugly duckling stages, I know, but gee!

Good News!

Erik and I are ecstatic, and pleased to announce that we are going to be Uncle Erik and Aunt Amy!!! "Uncle" and "Aunt," I love the sound of that. I have been in an extremely good mood today because of it! Who are the lucky parents to be? Well, its none other than Drew & Whitney!!! YAY! Baby Sullivan is expected to arrive around Oct. 12, so the new first cousins should be only 2 months apart. This is going to be so much fun. I can't wait. They'll grow together, learn to love each other, take up for each other, and fight when they feel like it. Hopefully that will be minimal-ha!
Whitney and Drew, we are so excited for you two! I am so excited that I'm going to be an aunt!

Sunday Afternoon Muddin'

This afternoon, some very good friends of ours went down to their "hunting land" and invited Erik and I to go ride. Since, I am not keen on riding 4 wheelers and bouncing my baby around, I decided to stay home. After the news that they were going to be shooting skeets at first, I changed my mind and thought that I might take Joey down in my own car, so that he could run around for a few minutes, and then we would leave after the rest went riding.

Well, if you've never been riding through 2 feet of mud in a Yamaha Rhino, its as smooth as silk. So, the preggo got to ride in the upscale vehicle with windshiled and top. While the rest rode on a 4 wheeler and a souped up muddin' golf cart. Yes, I said golf cart. Am I pampered or what? So, I didn't get to miss out on all of the fun at all. No bumpy riding and I got to play photographer too! I haven't done that in years!!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Flonase ROCKS! I finally got a good nights sleep and didn't wake up one single time! It was the total miracle cure. I haven't even had to use it today. How weird is that? I've been congested for 3 whole weeks with no found relief, and now I can acutally breathe, and taste :) And my head feels great!

Dr. Visit #3

We had our 3rd (4th week) visit today. I am 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Things went great and our baby's heartbeat was 160bpm. So, its still as strong as ever. I have been suffering from severe sinus problems and have not been able to breathe at night. The pressure has been unbelieveable. I have tried the meds on my "list" and of course none of them do a thing except the Afrin, and who wants to get addicted to that? lol. Tylenol Sinus doesn't even touch the problem, and I can't take Sudafed because of the ephedrine in it. It makes me feel too weird. I know you all are probably thinking, that I'm nuts for taking anything. But I have followed my ok'd medication list, nothing has worked and I am desperate. I didn't want to take anything, but waking up gagging because I can't breathe is not fun! So, good ole' Dr. S. gave me a script for Flonase. Lets pray that it works. He told me that I needed something, and that I didn't need to be miserable. Erik and I enjoyed lunch at none other than Benihana, and then I gave in and went to Motherhood to by some of those "elastic waist britches" as Erik calls them. LOL! Folks, the rubber band thing is NOT FOR ME! I am pass that point anyway. I was so relieved when I tried on my new jeans and they didn't squeeze me in half. They were oh so comfy and fit like a glove. God bless those people who finally realized that there are petite people out there!

Dog Food Drama

We've been feeding Joey Nutro lamb & rice formula for 6 years now. It has been proven to be the best for his skin, coat, and stomach I might add. Used to, I would head to Petco to get this "wonderful miracle food" and would just "get over" paying $29.99/44lb. bag. Oh, but it was well worth it. Joey stopped shedding so much, and his...well, lets just say that his bathroom breaks were shorter if you know what I mean. lol! Better for the dog, and better for our yard. We tried to switch foods once before, because going all the way to Memphis for dog food was such a pain, but we soon figured out that it was a big "no no." So, back to Nutro it was. Oh what relief it was when Stockdale's opened and started carrying it. I was ecstatic. Not only did they carry Nutro, it was cheaper, and only 5 minutes from our house. This morning, when I went to feed the dog, he didn't even have 1/2 a scoop left in his bag. So, no big deal. I just ran to Stockdales not only to find that my 44lb. bag of dog food that used to be $29.99, has now turned into a 35lb. bag for $49.99. What?????? That's a $20 increase and 9lbs. less. Oh, yeah. I was not happy! How could this be? I immediately went and grabbed a store employee, and asked him if I was seeing correctly, and of course his answer was, "yes" and he apologized. Needless to say, Joey got his dog food, and Nutro Co. has a big fat letter in the mail! I told them that I was having to switch brands, and asked them what brand they suggested! lol!

Muttlucks

Call me crazy, but I've been wanting these things for a while, but just haven't purchased them. Its not like we get snow once a week around here, but it would help to have them when we do. Our dog is like a child. You let him out in the snow, and he runs around like a mad dog. He absolutely loves it. But...its not good for his paws. Since our Joey is an inside dog, his pads are more prone to frost bite. I read in an AKC magazine several years ago, that a dog should not be let out in cold, icy, and snowy weather for more than 5 minutes, because of the risk of frost bite. Now thats no fun to a dog that loves to play in it. Snow and ice can get stuck in between the pads on your dog's paws, causing cuts and uncomfortably cold toes, so I wonder if a purchase of these things would be worth it. He would look awfully funny, but hey, why not? Anyone ever used them?
