The Pumpkin is Complete

We carved our pumpkin much later than usual this year.  We have been way too busy!

Last night, I promised Mills that we would carve our pumpkins after dinner tonight.  After he picked his design, and the first one was complete, it ended up being the last one.  Hey, we were tired, and it was past his bedtime.  If I didn't have to literally drag him out of the bed every morning, we would have carved a thousand pumpkins tonight.

"Mama, I want this one and this one and this one and this one...."

So proud of his new kit.  The old one went to the trash this year.

Being silly!

Today, I Feel Like a Hoodlum

I'm not complaining, really.  Life is good, but its been a stressful/fun/tiring/sad week/weekend.  We are at home today.  Yep, skipped church.  I am tired.  T-I-R-E-D.  After a trip to the pumpkin patch, learning about the death of my uncle, running around like a chicken, getting Mills where he should be, a visitation, funeral, a birthday party, and being up 5 times with Mills last night, I don't know my head from my back-side.  I hate skipping church.  Really, I do.  I feel like a hoodlum.  A complete hoodlum.  No example whatsoever.  Is that allowed sometimes?  Embarrassingly enough, I even went to the grocery store this morning, with old jeans, no make-up, a messy ponytail, and puffy, dark-circled eyes, because we were out of our daily staples.  To top things off, its the end of the weekend and even the job that I love, will be staring me in the face in the morning.  Can I have about 3 days to do nothing, but nothing?

Kissin' Cousins...

Or, I guess I should say, "hugging cousins."  After a small potty break, you would think that Mills and Lainey hadn't seen each other in years!

Cedar Hills Farm 2012

We had a very fun day today!  This morning we headed out to the pumpkin patch at Cedar Hills Farm.  Last year did not disappoint, so we were excited to be able to go back.

Although it was a bit chillier than last year, and we ran into a few isolated showers, it did not spoil our fun.

These cousins sure do love each other!

We started with the pig races.  This year, we were on the red team.  Our pig won the first race!

We even ran in to my friend Rachel, and her boys.  Her youngest, Mills' friend Jax, is 20 days older than Mills.  Look!  It's twins!!

We then headed up to ride the train and while we were waiting in line, thunder made its way in to the area.  No fun spoiled here!

Then on to the petting zoo...

The chicken show...

And what Mills had been waiting on ALL WEEK.  The pony rides.  Due to rain.  They moved the horses and ponys back into their stalls, but let Mills ride up and down the stable.  They were sooo nice to him and he had a ball.

These guys definitely deserve an applause for being the best pony ride operators ever!

As we headed back toward the hayride, we ran in to "the boys."  Our best friends, the Cranford's were there too!

Finally on our way to the pumpkin patch via hayride.

But not before stopping at the pirate ship.

Mills tries to tackle this "way to hebby (heavy)" pumpkin.

An attempt to pull one off the vine.

I got it dude!

Lainey makes her way through the pumpkin stand with her cart!

THE END!
of a fantastic day!

Asking for Prayer

Please keep my family in your prayers.  My mom's brother, my uncle Terry Wilson, passed away this morning unexpectedly.  He has fought a long battle for a little over 10 years, but his suffering has finally come to a close.  For this, we are thankful, but he will surely be missed.  I'm sure my granddaddy and grandmother are so glad to see him.

Happy 35th Birthday Erik

Erik's 35th birthday was yesterday. It was a busy day for us, so we opted to celebrate with cake tonight.

I surprised Erik with a cake that was made by our friend, Amy. Thanks to a few of Erik's co-workers and Amy, my wish came true. I wanted a cake that looked just like Erik's leather fire helmet. Erik's work buddies took pictures of it and sent them to me, and Amy did the magic. She is AWESOME!!!!! The cake tasted like a dream! I was so proud of it, and Erik was so surprised!

Thank you Suzanne and Steve for getting the pictures for me, and to Amy for doing such a fantastic job. You should be proud!

Happy Birthday, Erik (Daddy)!!
We love you to the moon and back!

This Stuff is Evil

Mills was hoarse when I picked him up from Mimi's Thursday. He seemed to be feeling fine, just a raspy voice.

After we all went to bed, he woke up several times crying with loud, horrible breathing, but went to sleep after I would go on his room an rock him. "I want in my bed," he said. He slept fine and woke up at 8:00 with his normal call: "Maaaaamaaaa! I'm frew!"

I called our pediatrician's office at 7:30 am and made him an appointment with Dr. O for 10:50. He seemed to be feeling fine, but sounded terrible.

Mills loves the Dr.! He ran back demanding to be weighed and wanted his height checked. Dr Owen could hear Mills breathing as he walked past our room. He stopped, came in and Mills willingly let him check him out. He then yelled to the nurse and told her to cancel the breathing treatment, turned to me and said, "croup!" Greaaaat! Luckily, he had the meds we needed in office and gave us three packs to take home and use over a course of three days.

Prednisone has turned our little one into a non-stop, hyperactive monster. He has been bouncing of the walls for two days and this mama and daddy are exhausted! I hope we never see the likes of this evil stuff ever again! We have one more day of it and cannot wait to be over. You would never know that this kid has a virus!
