We have been supplementing my milk with formula at each feeding since Mills had not gained any weight. It is not something that I wanted to do, but sometimes you just don't have a choice. We are using Enfamil with Lipil Premium, which as given to us at the pediatrician. I am wondering if it is what's causing Mills to be continuously fussy and mad. Not to mention that he is pretty gassy. When he "toots" (sorry TMI) sometimes he cries. So, I was just wondering if any of you have tried Enfamil Lipil Gentlease. If not what or do you have any suggestions. I am planning on calling the pediatrician on Monday to see if they recommend switching, or what.
The love of our lives was born on 8.13.09 and is the light of our lives. Mills is our happy, busy, typical little boy, who never slows down. He is a huge fan of Moose and Zee, Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse and loves playing with his "big-brother-dog," Joey. There is not a day that goes by that I don't look at this precious miracle given to us by God and sit in awe.

Thats probably the only one we didn't try (with Bo). I hope you don't start a vicious battle of formulas like we did.....we kept trying new ones because he cried all the time. Ended up on "Aliementum" (most expensive on the market" with a little improvement, but not much! I know it's one day at a time, but through my experience, the formula changes were crazy and a terrible battle of "is this helping?" Not trying to be discouraging; just want you to know many of us have gone through those thoughts of "is this what is making him cry?" Good Luck!
Mylicon Drops worked wonders for Kenz when she was a baby.
Grey had to have lactose free formula from the get go. Nathan and I both are lactose intolerant and those sound like the same symptoms. I didn't know if you had considered that. Just trying to help out.
Kyle had a horrible time with gas and we tried all different kinds of formula and saw little change. We were so scared with Chase that when I started supplementing with formula we started with the "gentle" kind. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor; the change from your milk alone may be enough to cause it. I will pray for you guys, there is nothing more frustrating than a fussy baby you can't console!
Hey, Amy!! I have enjoyed following your blog since Mills was born! He is precious! I have to say after my oldest, Catharine, had formula troubles; I finally listened to my sis-in-law and switched to Prosobee (a soy-based formula) and it was like an INSTANT difference. Milk-based formulas tend to not agree with a lot of babies' tummies....After that, when I had Emma and Sarah...I started them at the hospital on SOY formula.....
We used Gentlease with Carson and it seemed to help a little but he eneded up on Soy for a while and then and then back to Gentlease about 6 or 7 months. I'm with Laura though some babies just fuss a little more no matter what formula or breastmilk you give them. Sorry that's not too encouraging... Good Luck!
Amy,
Karoline has acid reflux and esophogitis. She also is very gassy. The Dr put her on Nutrimigien and she hated it!!! She would scream before this formula when she ate, tooted and used the bathroom. Now she is on gentlease and it is AMAZING!!! The Dr. okayed it and we just switched it on our own before we asked him. We also used the Milicon drops, but not so much now with this formula. I would def say it is worth a try. Now, I have not used any other brands of this. We stick to Enfamil just because it makes me nervous. So good luck with this!! I promise that Karoline seems to like it!! The nutrmigien was DISGUSTING!!
amy,
we went through tons of miicon drops with olivia and they never really worked. there is a prescription gas drop that you can get that worked wonders for us. i will get the name of it for you if you would like. soy based formula worked wonders for her so maybe it will help mills too in the event this new formula doesn't work.
Just a little money saving tip. . . FOREVER ago when my youngest was a baby, we used gas drops forever it seemed. I don't know if they still make it but we used a brand called Little Tummies instead of the Mylicon. It has the same dose of simethicone and was 1/2 the price!
Holden was colic and had reflux. I always thought it was something I was eating that upset his tummy, so breast feeding him was a challenge for 6 months! Then once we changed to formula, we tried this but it did not work and then used Lipil AR, it seemed to help a little. I also used Gripe Water and did TONS of tummy time that seemed to help alot. But Holden was not a "good formula baby" he just did not like bottles either until I switched to Dr. Brown. With Rylan I breast fed the same and he did not have any issues from the beginning. Once we switched to formula we used Similac Advanced and he did not have any issues. If you do not want to buy formula just ask your doctor for samples, ours gave us an entire case and each time we went for check-ups they gave us more. Just a thought so you are not spending a ton on things that do not work. Good luck.
